Tuesday, 16 November marks Lenora's first birthday in Heaven. Andrea and I will use today's From the Frontline podcast to reflect and focus on the Legacy of Lenora Dawn Hammond after her long and courageous battle with cancer.

The second Sunday in November is set aside for an International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted. Why was this time chosen? How serious is the threat of persecution today? Where are Christians persecuted? What forms of persecution are used? What can we learn from the persecuted? How can we serve the persecuted?

From the Frontline: Sabotage and Subversion in Sudan

After a couple of years of encouraging moves towards freedom in Sudan, on Monday 25^th October, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan announced the dissolution of the transitional government and a return to military rule under a “state of emergency.” What is going on in Sudan? Who and what are behind these dramatic developments? How do these changes affect the Christians in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan? How can we best pray in this situation? What can we learn and what can we practically do to help Christians caught up in this unstable situation?

From the Frontline: Reformation vs Halloween

We are in a spiritual world war. Cruelty to animals, vandalism and murders occur with far greater frequency during Halloween. Every Halloween many thousands of animals and even people, are sacrificed in satanic rituals worldwide, while millions of other people, including well-meaning Christians, participate in Halloween celebrations. Halloween is a prime recruiting time for witches and Satanists. Many people have testified that they were introduced to the occult at a Halloween party. Halloween is very religious, but it is not Christian. Instead of participating in paganism, walking with Wicca, being in harmony with Halloween, having our children celebrate cruelty and dabbling in a day of death, we should focus our family and congregation on celebrating the Reformation.

Complacency corrodes character. Entitlement and victimisation are deadly to character development. However suffering and adversity strengthens Character. What are the Biblical principles on character development? What warnings do we see the book of Proverbs against comfort, complacency and compromise? What must we learn ? What can we practically do to deepen our character, increase our ingenuity, creativity and entrepreneurship?

It is disturbing that more than half of eligible voters do not bother to vote in either national or municipal elections. Yet when you speak to many of these people, they say, "what difference can I make?" When more than half of the voters are saying that they don’t believe that their vote can make a difference, then there is something radically wrong!

How are we as Christians to respond when authorities abuse their power? What should we do when the protectors become persecutors? What does the Bible teach on authority, accountability and our attitudes and actions in times of conflict? With increasingly arbitrary decrees that are complicating the lives of millions, shutting down churches, criminalising free-speech, suppressing outreaches and crippling the businesses and livelihoods of multiplied millions, how are we to respond? What is the solution to the abuse of authority?

What are some of the Biblical principles that lead to success in life? What are some of the seeds of failure?

“Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him and He shall bring it to pass.”
